"My review for HP Compaq Business Notebook Nc2400
Based on the cost of other lightweight portables, I feel this one is a bargain. Under 3lbs, comfortable keyboard, fingerprint reader, built in DVD ROM/CDRW and a battery that lasts 4 hours-- I can say I am very pleased. With XP Pro instead of Vista the 1GB of memory is more than enough. Some others from Sony, Lenova, and Fujitsu with similar or slightly better specs with cost hundreds more. If your priority is weight, long battery life, and a usable keyboard this should be on your short list. I haven't had it long enough to comment about the quality- but it has a three year warranty(better than most)."

Originally set out to get a sub-notebook. I found them to be too small and lacking in battery life. This little machine does it all - excellent battery life, CD/DVD, XP, Bluetooth. Paired right up with a MS 5000 wireless mouse. Nifty. Good Linux box too. Fits in a nice small ''DVD player'' carrying case. Should be good for while with a 3yr warrentee.

A first for HP, the Compaq nc2400 ultraportable is a long-missing link in HP's lineup. This tiny laptop weighs just 3.6 pounds yet features an extended battery and a built-in optical drive. For frequent travelers, these are huge selling points, especially on such a light notebook.
When it's time to hit the road, the HP Compaq nc2400 won't disappoint. The ultraportable system's long battery life and built-in optical drive are very pleasing. But if having an internal DVD drive isn't important to you, the sleeker Gateway E-100M and the faster Lenovo ThinkPad X60s are still my picks."

The nc2400 is definitely the best business focussed ultra-portable notebook that I’ve seen. Even for an individual buyer, this thin and light laptop has a great deal to offer. The specification is good, the warranty is impressive and the ergonomics are first rate. It seems churlish to complain about three hours of battery life on a notebook this small, but Sony has raised the bar so high in this area that every other manufacturer is playing catch up. But when you factor price into the equation, you can forgive the nc2400 for its modest battery life. In fact you could happily specify an extended battery with this machine and still end up with a superb notebook at a great price."

Pros: Solidly built. Runs silently and runs very cool due to low-voltage CPU - a joy to use. Compact form factor with widescreen. Battery life can stretch to well over 5 hours (nearly 6 hours) with regular use with 6-cell. Works seamlessly with docking station. Lots of expandability options.

Cons: Hardly a speed demon (but good for 85% of most tasks). Not many bundled applications to make life a little easier (ie battery management). Keyboard layout could be better (Pg Up/Dn keys not near the arrow keys)."
